NedCare Help
General
Call Types: NedCare supports two types of calls, "normal" and "drop-in". A normal call, placed using either of the round buttons, results in the Resident hearing an announcement that you are calling. The Resident must accept the call to connect with you. A drop-in call, placed using either of the square buttons, is automatically answered on behalf of the Resident and you are able to immediately begin communicating.
All calls use the same screen layout patterns, patterns that depend upon the number of participants in the call. Audio calls present a static image for each caller; your image can be set using the Self Portrait feature under Settings. Video calls present a live video feed for each call participant.
Drop-in video calls have a "modesty filter" applied. To give the Resident time to react to a drop-in call causing a potentially embarassing situation, the Resident video feed is blurred at the start of the call, and is slowly brought into focus as the call progresses. The duration of the video blur can be configured by your Account Administrator. Call Layout: During a call, there are a minimum of two images or video screens displayed. On a cell phone, in portrait mode, the Resident video is shown in the upper half of the screen and your video is shown in the lower half of the screen. In landscape mode on a cell phone, and on a desktop or laptop, the small screen, located by default in the upper left of the display; is your local video. The Resident's video is displayed, by default, in the larger (main) screen area on your device. In all cases, your video is displayed on the larger (main) screen for the Resident. Local Video Position: When in a video call, you can reposition the local video by dragging the local video to the desired location. Group Calls: If Group Calling is enabled for your account, the Resident and as many as seven additional callers can participate in a group video call. During a group video call, the individual videos are placed in a grid that adapts depending upon the number of participants in the call. The individual videos cannot be repositioned.

During a Call
During an audio or video call, there are two control panels available. Access to the "Your Experience" panel is achieved by pressing the button located in the lower right of the screen. Access to the "Resident Experience" panel is achieved by pressing the button located in the lower left of the screen.
There are three buttons in-between the outer access buttons. These buttons are always displayed but they may be disabled depending upon the current call state. Monitor to Drop-in / Drop-in to Monitor: When selected during a Monitor call, allows the monitoring user to quickly convert from a Monitor to a Drop-in call. The monitoring user can also return to monitoring mode by tapping on the button again. Pan and Zoom: Displays a pan (move the center of the screen using the left, right, up and down arrows) and zoom (plus sign to zoom in, minus sign to zoom out, circle to reset the camera to default) control that is applied to your view of the Resident's video feed. Pan and Zoom adjustments that you make apply only to your view of the Resident. These adjustments do not affect what is seen by the Resident or any other call participant. Audio Mute: Mute your audio feed. The Resident will not be able to hear you when your audio is muted.
Your Experience panel
By default, this panel starts in a simplified form, displaying only the most commonly used features. To see all available features, click on the More button. You can return to the default features by clicking on the Less button.
When using the video brightness and contrast controls, the changes only affect you and do not apply to the Resident's experience. Exit Call: Exit the current call. Video Mute: Disable your video channel for the Resident. The Resident will see a black video feed when your video is muted. Toggle Resolution: Switches between a lower resolution video stream (SD) and a higher resolution video stream (HD). Lower resolution video streams are best for handheld devices and they work better for lower-capacity networks. Higher resolution video streams require higher-capacity and more reliable networks and are best used on a laptop or desktop computer. Swap Camera: Assuming that your device has a front camera and a back camera, use the other camera for the video feed received by the Resident. Hide Me: Hides your video feed from the other callers. Toggles to Show Me, restoring your video feed to other callers. Lower Contrast: Reduce the contrast of the Resident's video feed on your screen. Higher Contrast: Increase the contrast of the Resident's video feed on your screen. Dimmer: Reduce the brightness of the Resident's video feed on your screen. Brighter: Increase the brightness of the Resident's video feed on your screen. Swap Display: Switch the placement of your local video with the Resident video. Share Screen: On supported devices, allows you to share your screen with the Resident. Invite: Opens a modal with a list of all family contacts. Tap a button to send an invitation to that contact to send an invitation to join the current call. Tap on the Done button when all desired invitations have been sent. Enable Snapshot: Enable snapshot controls on video feeds. Snapshots of each video feed are taken independently and can be saved to your local device. For full-screen snapshots, use the screen capture function provided by your device. Make Call Private / Make Call Public: Toggle between Private and Public call modes. When an ongoing call is marked Private, additional callers cannot join the current call until the call is marked Public. By default, all calls are Public and members of the Resident's contact list can join ongoing calls. All participants in an ongoing call are always identified to all call participants; it is not possible to join a call without notifying the other call participants. Close: Close the Your Experience panel.
